Case Study: Vehicle Inspection Efficiency: Suloja’s Smart Move with InstaScan

Logistics and vehicle transport specialist, Suloja, has installed the ‘InstaScan’ AI body damage solution to automate certified damage inspection for high vehicle volumes at their Mönchengladbach location. The ‘InstaScan’ AI-inspection solution has significantly reduced the time and cost to produce certified appraisals, thereby improving the efficiency of the remarketing process.
Suloja logistics and vehicle transport

With capacity for 2,500 vehicles at the Mönchen Gladbach vehicle processing site, and transporting over 34,000 vehicles annually, finding efficiencies and improved accuracy in the vehicle inspection process, especially in Vehicle Inspections, was key.

SLC GmbH, located in Mönchengladbach, manages over 34,000 vehicles annually, with up to 2,500 on-site at any given time. Faced with a manual, time-consuming appraisal process that strained resources and introduced delays, Suloja turned to a drive though damage inspection solution to deliver greater operational efficiency.

The project was initially launched as a pilot at the Suloja operation—on behalf Suloja’s vehicle leasing and fleet management partner and their certification provider. The objective was to digitise the existing manual inspection process already producing certified appraisal reports, to increase process efficiency and reduce inspection costs.

It was clear that Implementing advanced technologies into the vehicle inspection process would optimise the overall workflow, but needed to take into account several factors:

Labour-intensive inspections: Certified damage appraisals were being conducted manually, resulting in high costs and slower turnaround times.

Site logistics: Installing a scanning solution required careful planning to ensure optimal placement and performance under varied lighting and traffic conditions.

System integration: Any solution had to integrate seamlessly with Suloja’s internal systems to ensure immediate access to inspection data.

The InstaScan Solution

The modular InstaScan Vehicle Inspection Scanner installed at Suloja

Suloja implemented a modular, AI-powered drive-through scanner, capable of handling high vehicle volumes with speed and accuracy:

5–10-second scan times at speeds of up to 5 mph, supporting over 2,000 vehicle scans daily

Multi-angle articulated cameras provide complete exterior coverage, capturing high-resolution data for precise damage detection

Scalable modular options allow for tyre, alignment, and underbody inspection, ensuring future adaptability

For systems integration it was also important that inspection report data could be pushed to the inspection platform systems, and appraisals be issued swiftly following the inspection process.

Key Benefits and Results

30% reduction in processing time per vehicle, enabling staff to reallocate their focus to higher-value operational tasks

70% decrease in certified appraisal costs, significantly reducing reliance on external contractors

As noted by Luke Suloja, Owner of SLC Suloja Lager Centre GmbH:

“The InstaScan scanner enables us to quickly and reliably record the status of vehicles at our compound. Damage is automatically documented, making it easier for us to manage thousands of vehicles.”

Strategic Benefits

Increased throughput and consistency, enhancing operational planning and execution

Improved cost efficiency, freeing up budget for further investment in automation

Streamlined digital integration, with real-time inspection data available immediately upon scan completion

Conclusion

By adopting InstaScan, Suloja has significantly improved the speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of its vehicle inspection process. What was once a labour-intensive bottleneck has become a streamlined, data-driven advantage—positioning Suloja for continued growth in a competitive automotive remarketing landscape.
