Automated Vehicle Inspection
Our automated vehicle inspection system comprises drive-through vehicle scanners to detect damage and record vehicle condition in seconds.
What is an automated vehicle inspection ?
An automated vehicle inspection is a technology-driven process that evaluates the condition of a vehicle using high specification cameras, computer vision, and specialised scanning equipment.
By combining drive through vehicle scanners, automated imaging, and AI-based analysis, automated inspection technology provides a faster, more accurate, and fully traceable way to inspect vehicles at scale.
Additional modules can be incorporated for underbody inspection, tyre tread depth and wheel alignment reporting. APIs allow data integration into existing systems and platforms.
How our automated vehicle inspection system works
The InstaScan vehicle inspection scanner delivers high resolution image capture with AI damage detection, analysis and reporting.

30% reduction in processing time per vehicle
70% decrease in certified appraisal costs
Optional modules for automated vehicle inspection
Automated tyre and alignment inspection
Fully automated, drive over tyre and alignment inspection systems are easily incorporated within InstaScan. Configured above ground or in ground, complete with ANPR camera, these units can be installed ahead of or behind the underbody scanner.
Proprietary TyreSwift software produces a customer report in seconds, displaying tyre tread depths, uneven wear, vehicle alignment condition and the effect on vehicle stopping distance.
Underbody and EV battery inspection
The underbody scanner is a fast and effective way to carry out an underbody inspection without the need for heavy lifting equipment. Available as an in-ground inspection module, high resolution cameras and integral LED lighting generate a complete underbody image.
Now an essential component of EV inspections, this underbody scanner is an automated solution to quickly and reliably identify any damage to the vehicle underbody and battery compartment.

Automated vehicle inspection FAQs
How accurate is the damage inspection?
Damage inspection accuracy is defined as ‘recall’ – damage correctly identified, and ‘precision’ – quality of damage identified. InstaScan achieves >90% recall with minimal false positives. Beware any manufacturer who claims 100% accuracy. It simply isn’t true. It takes years of experience and expertise to optimise these parameters for different use cases and deliver maximum benefits.
What is the expected return on investment?
Instascan increases inspection speed and efficiency, reduces labour, improves customer UX and grows sales volumes and additional aftersales and servicing revenues, eg SMART repairs. The ROI varies depending on the use case but generally a payback is achieved in < 6 months.
Does InstaScan provide detailed reports or explanations that we can share with customers to improve trust and transparency?
The InstaScan customer report is generated within 2 minutes of the vehicle scan. The report can be viewed on screen, emailed or printed as a pdf.
Can InstaScan be scaled to multiple locations or across and entire dealer network?
The InstaScan hub is cloud-based with a portal user login to view a single site or multiple locations. Data and reporting can be viewed per site or for multiple locations.
How does InstScan perform in different environmental conditions?
InstaScan is fully weatherproof and can be deployed inside or outside. Additional cathodic protection can be added for coastal locations.
How much training is required for our dealer service advisors and technicians to effectively use automated damage inspection?
No technical training is required – The AI does the hard work!
